Family Promise of Blount County

Family Promise of Blount County

Family Promise of Blount County is a network of local congregations that provide temporary shelter, meals, and support services to families without homes to help them achieve lasting independence.

There are five basic components to the Family Promise Network:

  1. Congregations provide overnight housing, meals, and hospitality for one week at a time.
  2. Volunteers are the heart of the network and provide a variety of services such as cooking, playing with children, and staying overnight.
  3. The Day Center is used by the families from 7:30am to 5pm to shower, do laundry, care for preschoolers, and provide guests with a mailing address.
  4. Transportation is provided to the guests to take them to and from the Day Center and to needed appointments.
  5. Local social services agencies refer families to the Family Promise network as well as help guests find housing, jobs, and other services.

First Baptist Church is a host church and seeks volunteers to serve in many different roles.  For more information about serving through First Baptist, click here.
