Meet Pastor Bill Booth
Bill is a graduate of Carson-Newman University and the Baptist Theological Seminaries in Louisville, Kentucky, and Richmond, Virginia. Prior to serving in this position, Bill served as the Pastor of Vinton Baptist Church in Vinton, Virginia; the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Jonesville, Virginia; and Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church of Morehead, Kentucky. He has participated in short-term mission trips in such places as Brazil, Spain, India, Panama, Ghana, and Haiti.
Bill’s heart for FBCM is that we serve the community of Maryville.  He encourages us to be the church and the disciples of Christ to those beyond the walls of the church. This emphasis has moved FBCM to new areas and countries where our church has not previously served, even inspiring some to go to places such as Honduras and Kenya. At the same time, while world missions holds a dear place in Bill’s heart, he still seeks new ways to help others right here in Maryville and within the United States. For Bill, helping people where they are and sharing the love of Christ is his ultimate goal.
Part of this goal is further emphasized in Bill’s efforts to establish FBCM as a community partner and resource to the cities and agencies of Maryville, Alcoa, and Knoxville. FBCM has committed our facilities to serve as a warming center in the brutally cold winter nights and as a temporary shelter for homeless families through the Family Promise ministry. These are only a couple ways the church has worked with other ministries to help people who are in need.
While Bill serves as Senior Pastor here at FBCM and promotes and participates in mission work, Bill is a family man more than anything else. He has been married to his wife Lisa for 32 years. Lisa is an amazing school teacher and community leader who has a genuine heart for children and their families. Bill and Lisa love spending their free time reading, crafting pottery, having dinner with friends, kayaking, hiking, and visiting with their two grown daughters, Lindsey and Kelsey.
