WHAT TO EXPECT

SUNDAY MORNINGS

The youth (7th – 12th grades) meet at 9:15am for Bible study.  We use GROW curriculum, and in a year’s time, we will cover topics such as: Friendship, Identity, Wisdom, Spiritual Habits, Family, Social Justice, and Evangelism.

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS

Each Wednesday evening, our youth gather in the Youth Room for Collision. We begin at 6:00pm. with snacks, games, and hang-out time. At 6:30, our Youth Praise Team leads worship, followed by a practical and relevant Bible message from our Youth Pastor, Gary Stinnett.  We finish up each week at 7:30 with our famous Youth Raffle.

MISSIONS

One of the most important components of our youth ministry strategy is giving our young people an opportunity to serve locally, throughout the United States, and internationally.  During the upcoming year our youth will work locally with Empty Pantry Fund, Keep Blount Beautiful, Second Harvest Food Bank, and our our own FBC Connect Ministry. In addition, we will travel to Puerto Rico during spring break, and to Copper Hill, Tennessee, this summer.

OTHER STUFF

Throughout the year, we will do several fellowship / community building events with our youth.  These activities may include annual spring retreats, overnight trips to JumpJam, dinners at Gary and Rhonda’s house, pool parties, hikes, and waterfall swims…just to name a few.

 About Gary

Gary (the one on the right in the photo) has been on staff at First Baptist for 15 years and has been doing youth ministry for over 30 years.  He is married to Rhonda (33 years) and they have three adult children – Haley, Tyler & Hannah.  The adage “with age comes wisdom” rings true in Gary’s ministry to young people.  Having helped Rhonda raise three kids and having ministered to literally thousands of youth during his tenure as a youth pastor, Gary is well-equipped to minister to and counsel young people in all areas of life. He is also a valuable resource and close friend to parents of young people.  When not at the church, you might find Gary hiking, camping, fishing, golfing, or reading a book. His favorite possession is his 2006 Ford pick-up truck and currently on his playlist you’d find Michael Buble’, Lionel Richie, Casting Crowns, Crowder, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and Lauren Daigle.
