MACKENZIE PERKINS | REFUGE WORSHIP LEADER
Mackenzie very recently moved to Maryville from Chattanooga. Most of her family still lives there including her parents and sister, but her brother lives out in Wyoming. Mackenzie’s parents always knew she’d do something creative with her life, and she rose to the occasion. Her primary vocation is at Maryville Christian School as their vocal music teacher. She has the joy of teaching choir and some lower school music classes. She is a very new addition to the church, starting in September, 2025.
Mackenzie has a degree in Music Education from Lee University, where her love for music grew exponentially. It was there that she was exposed to big, loud, beautiful contemporary music that started to shape the way she worshipped. She is incredibly thankful for First Baptist Church, and how they allow her to grow God’s kingdom using the talents given by Him.
When Mackenzie isn’t at church or school, she’s usually curled up at home with her cat Prentiss (yes, Mackenzie will show you many photos of this cat). She will either be playing one of many video games she owns, flipping through a new book, or trying a new recipe she found online, accompanied by a good cup of tea or coffee. She absolutely loves her record player, and on her playlist are her favorites: Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Hozier, Drew and Ellie Holcomb, and Charity Gayle. Although, her record collection includes classics such as Fleetwood Mac, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Norah Jones, and other oldies but goodies.
